Job Description

We have the following 1 year project with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles in Austin, TX. Details follow:

The Worker will participate as a team member on the Business Process Analysis (BPA) phase which is a key component of the TxDMV Automation System Project. BPA was chartered to review and document current TxDMV business processes and identify opportunities for improvements that will; enable TxDMV to provide exceptional service to customers and stakeholders (e.g., tax assessor-collectors, motor carriers, auto dealers and the motoring public); comply with legislative mandates; and, support motoring public and law enforcement needs by protecting the safety of citizens through accurate and real-time data.

Services of the Worker shall include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below:

Serves as the lead technical resource performing strategic oversight and development of data models, and database structural design.

Oversees the design, evaluation, selection, implementation and support of major databases and metadata structures.

Reviews and evaluates database performance, risk and financial analysis to align information assets with strategic mission of the organization.

Presents industry trends and provides recommendations to senior management on technical direction including new technology or new mission capabilities regarding data standards and structures.

Develops data and metadata policies and procedures for structural design and development to build, maintain and leverage information needs and ensures integration with TxDMV data standards.

Assesses technical proposals, developed by TxDMV or vendor resources as necessary. Perform reviews on requested changes to upgrades of the existing data portfolio.

Provides regular status reports of work performed to Project management and TxDMV executives.

Transfers knowledge and skills to TxDMV staff as required.

Desirable Skills/Experience

Data architect with a minimum of ten (10) years of advanced database administration experience within the last thirteen (13) years performing responsibilities for designing, developing and implementing databases in large and multiple area supporting transformational program areas.

Possess experience working with a variety of database management tools

Possess a DBA certification from a major and accredited program (e.g., SQL, Oracle, etc…)
